Product Information :

The Jabsco seal # 18753-0234 is a Stationary seal seat, seat only (requires mechanical seal head), for a Jabsco pump, with a Ceramic Stationary Seat, and Viton Bellows/Elastomers. This seal is a compact, unitized, unbalanced, single spring, bi-directional, Elastomer Bellows Seal, with one piece construction. The factory-assembled, one piece design permits fast, easy installation and ease of replacement. A full-convolution Viton elastomer bellows provides maximum flexibility in compensating for shaft movement and wear, while torsional stress on the bellows is controlled by a dent and grove positive drive arrangement. The precision surface finish optimizes the service life and reliability. The Viton elastomer drive ring grips shaft to provide positive sealing and drive without set screws or drive pins. Coil spring and ferrules provide consistent face loading through extreme working conditions.

Applications:

This single Viton/ seal is used in Industrial Applications in Jabsco Pumps for Circulating and transferring, velocity mixing, pumping machine tool coolants, spill return, sump drainage, chemicals, Pharmaceutical Processing, Paper Processing applications, and many Food, Beverage and Dairy applications.

Installation:

If you are using an installation tool DO NOT have the tool contact the sealing face. Ensure that the sealing faces are clean. Use of lint-free gloves are recommended for handling the seal. Before installing the seal inspect the pump housing and shaft for any sharp edges or tool marks, as these must be removed to prevent damaging the seal. Inspect the seal head for any defects, ensure that the sealing face is free of any marks. Lightly lubricate the shaft where the seal head must pass over during installation with a suitable rubber lubricant. We recommend using P-80 as the rubber lubricant. Lubricate the drive ring of the seal head and using the installation tool (optional), install the seal head to the proper location on the shaft. The drive ring will adhere to the shaft almost immediately. Attempting to move the seal head after it is set in position may cause damage and possible leakage. Inspect the mating ring bore for any sharp edges or tool marks. These must be removed to prevent damage to the mating ring assembly. Inspect the mating ring assembly for any defects. Apply a light coating of a suitable lubricant to the rubber cup and bore prior to installing the mating ring assembly. We recommend using P-80 as the rubber lubricant. Press the mating ring into the bore evenly, keeping the seal face clean. Complete the pump assembly.|
