The Tuthill 4CK2BNV-C-7 is a Cast Iron Rotary Gear Pump, Pump End Only, no motor, Heavy-Duty version, with Double Ball Bearing, Viton Mechanical Seal, Outboard Ball Bearing, Internal Relief Valve, Relief valve is set at 90 PSI (can be adjusted in field), Clockwise rotation only (from shaft end view), standard shaft, Viton elastomers, and 1-1/2 Inch NPT by 1-1/2 Inch NPT ports. This pump was designed for heavy duty service and has a double ball bearing with an inboard heavy-duty roller bearing. This pump is supplied with a mechanical seal capable of handling inlet pressures to 250 PSI at a standard 1725-RPM motor speed with a maximum discharge pressure of 300 PSI. The maximum differential for this pump is 150 PSI. This pump was designed for flange or foot mounting applications. They may also be adapter mounted to NEMA C face electric motor using the correct sized motor to pump mounting adapter. This pump has an outboard ball bearing and was specifically developed for use with belt drives or similar applications were a side load is applied to the pump shaft. This pump employs the internal gear pumping principle. Pumping action is based on a rotor, idler gear, and a cover cast with a crescent-shaped partition. The space between the outside diameter of the idler and the inside diameter of the rotor is sealed by the crescent. As the pump starts, the teeth come out of mesh, increasing the volume. The liquid fills the spaces between the teeth of the idler and the rotor and is carried past the crescent partition through the pressure side of the pump. When the teeth mesh on the pressure side, the liquid is forced from the spaces and out through the discharge port. This pump has an internal relief valve, and the adjusting screw of the relief valve is located on the suction side of the pump. The internal relief valve on this pump is designed for over-pressure protection only. It is not intended as a flow control device or for any similar use. Continuous operation of the relief valve will result in excessive heat buildup within the pump cavity that could cause serious internal damage. Make certain the adjusting screw of the relief valve is located on the suction side of the pump. Unless otherwise specified at the time of order, this pump is supplied with the standard spring, with a range of 30-225 psi, set to provide full bypass relief at 90 psi. This pump should not be used for handling plain water, corrosive or abrasive liquids or liquids not possessing adequate lubricity. Do not run the pump dry, as this could cause severe damage to the internal seal, bushings and/or metal parts.
